On November 12, 2025, Columbia University Fashion Society was cordially invited to Adrian Cashmere’s office in Soho for an in-depth conversation about the brand’s origins, creative process, and most notable moments in fashion. The evening began with a warm welcome from Adrian Cashmere’s three-person team inside their beautifully crafted New York apartment-style studio. It truly felt like every fashion enthusiast’s dream space. A photoshoot setup stood along one wall, racks of cashmere lined the other, and the overall environment was a brilliant balance between refined and authentic to the founders. Adrian Schachter, alongside his two colleagues, Morgan Moinian and Jimena Muguiro, arranged a casual seating area where the CUFS members gathered for an intimate Q&A.
The first topic centered on the founding of the brand itself. Adrian Cashmere resurrected from his mother’s former cashmere label, bringing new life to her already spectacularly crafted pieces. Morgan admired the authenticity of Adrian’s paintings and suggested merging his artwork with the craftsmanship of his mother’s cashmere. Adrian explained that their first two years saw no profit, but through persistence and genius creative direction, they gained significant recognition from celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Bella Hadid.

Morgan played a powerful role throughout the discussion. She spoke candidly about navigating uncertainty in the industry and how much hard work it truly takes to launch a business. Having studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania before transitioning into fashion, she encouraged students to pursue what genuinely motivates them. Passion, she most importantly stressed, becomes a long-term asset for cultivating success in any field.
Another highlight of the evening was a question about the process of how Adrian transforms a sketch into a final garment. He shared that once he completes a drawing, he collaborates closely with Jimena before sending the design to the manufacturer. He also noted that the brand intentionally produces a limited number of pieces to remain environmentally conscious and avoid unnecessary overstock.
When asked why Adrian Cashmere does not yet have a physical store, Morgan explained that the company is waiting until they can execute every detail perfectly. As the brand continues to grow, they prefer to ensure that each step aligns with their vision and high standards.
The evening concluded with a group photo and light conversation, during which the team offered generous career advice, along with an opportunity to shop for any of their pieces. The team’s kindness, authenticity, and willingness to share their experience and expertise made the most memorable impression on the Columbia Fashion Society. Adrian Cashmere’s appreciation for creativity in its most original sense was evident, and CUFS was truly honored to be welcomed into their space.
