Let’s Talk Thrifting: Williamsburg

By Leah Goryachkovsky

10ft Single by Stella Dallas

285 N 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

This choice was quite the obvious one but, but Stella Dallas is definitely deserving of the mention. It’s a large shop with an abundance of fun finds –they have items for every occasion, in a variety of styles. It is a great staple visit, but definitely has hits and misses like any other vintage store. Luckily, it’s large enough to browse deeply and find the perfect fit. If you don’t take my word for it, Stella Dallas also happens to be Bella Hadid’s favorite thrift store in New York.

Brooklyn Brickhouse Vintage

Fantastic selection of women’s and men’s vintage clothing!! I’m sure the inventory rotates but it skewed very 70s on my recent visit (which was ideal for me lol) and they had a lot of gorgeous prairie-style dresses. Prices ranged from $ to $$$ depending on the rarity/trendiness of the item but ultimately all prices were super fair IMO. Overall it’s a really nicely curated store and I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re a vintage fanatic.

Artists and Fleas

Williamsburg Brooklyn's Artists & Fleas Market: a Photo Review - Souvenir Finder
70 N 7th St, Brooklyn, NY, 11249
@artistsandfleas

Artists and Fleas is a must-see on any Williamsburg shopping trip; this former dry goods and provisions warehouse is now home to over 45 vendors. It is a must-see when vintage/thrift shopping in Williamsburg. Plan ahead because this location is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 11-6. Although it’s only available during the weekend, the impressive curation of artists, as well as the displays of art, fashion, design, and more are worth the inconvenience.

Crossroads

135 N 7th St, Brooklyn, NY 11249
@crossroadstrading

Crossroads is a chain of thrift stores, and its Williamsburg location is the host for a variety of eclectic styles and fun pieces. It’s a short walking distance away from Artists and Fleas, so you could easily combine your trips if you don’t find everything you’re looking for. The store is open every day for selling and buying clothing, so there’s always a guarantee for new, unique items each day. Take a stroll around, and after you’re done shopping, head over to the Marsha P. Johnson State Park for views of the skyline and shore.

28 Scott

28 Scott Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 11237
@28scottvintage

The shop is amazing! 28 Scott is incredibly well-curated by the owner, who is well-traveled and sources pieces from her trips. The store has a fun range of clothes, home decor, and accessories, and everything is always of top-notch quality. The ambiance is sure to make all of the customers feel welcomed. A review mentioned that a  husband shopping with his wife was even offered a glass of whiskey while he waited — now that’s customer care. Make sure to add this shop to your list of places to visit!
